Brogin, 76, of Friedens RD 1 died Oct. 8, 1997, at the VA Medical Center, Altoona. Born March 15, 1921, in Gray. Son of Lawrence and Catherine (Morziak) Brogin. Preceded in death by parents; infant daughter Selena Michelle; infant brother Joseph, brother John, and sisters Sophia Thomas, Estelle Bellom, Ann Taborsak and Kathryn Wozniak. Survived by wife, the former former [sic] Dorothy A. Leasure, with whom he shared his life for 47 years; three daughters: Teresa, Tera, Kara, all of Boswell; sisters: Mary, wife of John Lester, Pittsburgh; Victoria, widow of Frank Baraniak, Jenners, and Helen, wife of Paul Baraniak, Boswell, and brother-in-law, Frank "Yank" Leasure, married to Marge Reinholtz, Boswell. Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Member of Jenner Rod and Gun Club. A private first class veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army 21st Engineers Company. He earned many honors, including three Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal. Former employee of Davy Tree Co. and Bethlehem Steel. Along with his wife, he owned and operated the former Silver Star Tavern, Stoystown RD, in the 1970s and ran the former Brogin Amoco Gas Station, Ferrellton, in the 1960s. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Rev. Father Blase Wegierski, O.F.M. Conv.
