Brougher, 75, of Markleton RD 1, went to be with his Lord Jan. 6, 1997, at Somerset Hospital. Born April 17, 1921, in Upper Turkeyfoot Township, son of the late Ross and Mabel (Meyers) Brougher. Preceded in death by infant brother, Robert; a sister, Thelma, and a stepmother, Pauline Brougher. Survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, the former B. Elizabeth Knepper. Also survived by five beloved daughters: Mrs. Rev. Ronald (Linda) Beachley, Davidsville; Mrs. Kenneth (LaVonne) Sanner, Youngstown, Ohio; Mrs. Richard (Jane) Pritts, Telford; Mrs. Jim (Mabel) Walker, Markleton; Mrs. Barry (Diane) Miller, Waynesboro; 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, and a dear friend, his pastor, Gerald and his wife Pat Deffenbaugh; a foster sister, Marie Landis Frueh, Asheville, N.C.; a stepbrother, Ray Brougher, Markleton, and aunts: Gladys Henry, Rockwood, and Hazel Steyer, Mill Run. Member of the Geiger Church of the Brethren where he served as a deacon. Retired farmer. Was a school bus contractor for 17 years for Rockwood Area Schools. Owner-operator of Brougher Fruit Market, Kingwood, since 1964. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, Somerset. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Geiger Church of the Brethren, where Mr. Brougher will lie in state one hour prior to funeral service, Rev. Gerald Deffenbaugh and Rev. Ronald Beachley officiating. Interment in the Fairview Cemetery, Kingwood. Memorial contributions may be given to the Geiger Church of the Brethren Building Fund.
