Kingwood Farmer Fatally Trampled By a Horse

  Thrown from his horse and trampled under its hoofs while preparing to plant 
potatoes, Willis M. (Jack) Brougher, 49, prominent Kingwood farmer was fatally 
injured Friday afternoon, May 10.  He was admitted to Community Hospital where 
he died before surgeons could operate on him.
  Shortly after the dinner hour Brougher harnessed his team and went to the farm 
of a neighbor to get a potato planter.  When he reached the neighbor's home, the 
horse which he was riding shied at some object and reared, throwing Brougher to 
the ground, and tramping on his head, fracturing his skull.
  Brougher was born in Kingwood April 22, 1897, a son of Charles A. and Minnie 
(Romesberg) Brougher, who survive, together with his wife, Mrs. Pauline (Kreger) 
Brougher, and one son, Ray, at home.  He was a brother of Dr. Floyd Brougher, 
Dover, Del., Oscar, Pittsburgh, and Melvin, Kingwood.
  Funeral services were conducted the following Monday in the Fairview Church of 
the Brethren, of which the deceased was a member.  Rev. N. H. Blough, pastor, 
was in charge, assisted by Rev. A. C. Hall.  Interment in the Fairview Cemetery.
