Brown, 95, of Acme died Dec. 27, 1999 in Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. Born Dec. 15, 1904 in Wooddale, a daughter of the late Harry and Belle Brothers Wingrove. Early in her life Alverta taught school in the Buchannan, Bear Rocks and Rich Hills schools. She attended the former California Normal School and was a member of the Appalachian Wagon Trail, a life member of the Wooddale Grange and an honorary member of the Horse and Mule Association. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Earl E. Brown; three sons: Dale, Dean and Jack Brown; one daughter, Audrey Brown and a daughter-in-law, Arlene Brown; brothers: Clarence and William Wingrove; sisters: Nellie Wingrove and Elva Wadsworth and a nephew, William Wingrove. Survived by four children: Geneva Brown and her husband Gilbert of Greensburg; Zane Brown and his wife, Arlene of Acme; Thomas Brown and his wire, Vera of Acme; and Sally Brown of Acme; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Elwood Wingrove and his wife, Margaret, of Wooddale. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2-9 p.m. Thursday at Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., 406 E. Washington St., Mount Pleasant, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, with Rev. Elam Bender officiating. Interment, Brown Cemetery, Saltlick Township.
