Brown, 83, Greencastle, died Jan. 14, 2002 at his home. He was born Oct. 24, 1918 in Tacoma, Wash., the son of the late Myrtle C. and Harry E. Brown. He was preceded in death by a brother, W. H. Brown; an infant son, Gordon B. Brown, and one grandchild. He is survived by his wife, Martha Deeter Brown, whom he married June 8, 1946 in Tacoma, Wash.; daughter, Gretchen Bodrogi, Finksburg, Md.; sons: Timothy C. Brown, Greensboro, N. C.; and Samuel K. Brown, Greencastle; sister, Marjorie Witt, Anchorage, Alaska; brother, Gordon K. Brown, Fort Pierce, Fla., and four grandchildren. He was a registered professional engineer retiring in 1983 from the E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co., Potomic River Works in West Virginia, after more than 45 years of service at various du Pont sites. He held a degree in industrial engineering from I.C.S. and had further studies from California Coast University. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Williamsport, Md. He served in the U. S. Coast Guard during World War II and was a member of the American Legion State Post No. 945 in Wormleysburg, Pa. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and a member and past president of the Southern Engineering Society of Hagerstown, Md. He was also a family genealogist and historian for the Deeter Family and a member of the Berlin Area Historical Society, the Palatines To America Pennsylvania Chapter, the New York State Historical Society, the Chippewa, Wis., Genealogical Society and the Juneau-Jackson-Monroe Genealogy Associations of Wisconsin. Mr. Brown had a deep interest in his Scottish Heritage and was a member of The Society of Scottish Clarks and The Clan Broun/Brown Society. He was a Piper of the Clan Shaw Society and he was the appointed "Am Piobaire" personal piper to the Commander of the Clan MacAulay when he was in the U.S.A. He was a member of the Somerset-Cambria Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and had been a member of the American Rifle Association for more than 50 years. Graveside funeral service will be held at 1 a.m. Friday at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fairhope, with Pastor Greg Martin officiating. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The family requests that flowers be omitted with memorial contributions given in his memory to the Berlin Area Historical Society, P.
