Born Dec. 5, 1931 in Salisbury, a son of the late Leon I. and Marguerite C. "Joan" (Diehl) Brown. Preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean (Baer) Brown on Oct. 13, 1985 and one daughter, Kimberly Dawn. Survived by these children: Michael Brown and fiancee, Melissa Faidley, Salisbury, Debra Wagers and husband, Randy; Vicki Rush and husband Gary; Tamara Johnson and husband Bill, all of Washington, Pa., Pamela Baer, and Crystal Hutzel and husband Art, of Salisbury, and Kim Mellinger and husband John of Swanton, Md.; sister, Kathy Laymen, Salisbury; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Retired carpenter, member of Salisbury Church of the Brethren. U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, treasurer and director of American Legion Post 459, Salisbury. Member of Salisbury Lions Club. Lifetime member of Salisbury Volunteer Fire Dept. He was an umpire for the Salisbury Little League for 27 years and was well known for many years of bingo calling for the fire department and American Legion. Friends were received Sunday and Monday at the Newman Funeral Home Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Daniel Whitacre officiating. Interment, Salisbury Cemetery, where graveside military rites will be accorded. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to either American Cancer Society, Heart Association or Salisbury Lions Club.
