BROWN Jack Garrett Brown, 48, State College, native of Meyersdale and former editor of the Meyersdale Republican (1948-50) died at Center County Hospital, in State College on Sunday, March 19. He was recently appointed to the cooperative extension service staff of Pennsylvania State University as an assistant editorial specialist. Having worked as a free-lance journalist for a number of newspapers and other publications, he was a member of the American Association of Agricultural College Editors. Born in Meyersdale, August 6, 1919, he was a son of Mrs. Jane (Graves) Brown, Beachley St., Meyersdale, and the late T. Boone Brown. Surviving also are his wife, the former Eugenia Grimshaw, State College; two daughters, Jacqueline and Judith, at home; and two sons, Eric and Jeffrey, Morristown, N.J. He was a brother of Mrs. Kent Forster and Thomas B. Brown, State College; and Mrs. Joan Walsh, Temple, Texas. Memorial service was held in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, State College, of which he was a member, on Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. James B. Troust and Derald W. Stump officiating. Interment will be made in Union Cemetery, Meyersdale, under the direction of Price Funeral Home. Meyersdale Republican, March 23, 1967 [B2908]
