F. Weidner, on Keystone Street. Margaret Brown and a friend, Betty Fike, were coasting in an alley which extends from the Union Cemetery hill to Keystone Street when Weidner's truck came along. Weidner said that he applied the brakes as soon as he saw the girls on their sled suddenly emerge from the blind alley, but the heavy truck skidded sidewise on the icy street and the sled crashed directly into the right rear wheel. The Brown child died almost instantly, but the Fike girl escaped with minor injuries. Coroner F. E. Sass, who conducted an investigation, said the Brown girl died of a skull fracture, sustained when her head struck against the rear wheel of the heavy truck. Margaret Brown is the third oldest of eleven children. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank H. Brown of Keystone Street, and the following brothers and sisters: Betty, Ralph, Evelyn, Robert, Nina, Kenneth, Donald, Mildred, Frank, Jr., and Grace, all at home. The child's body was removed to the W. C. Price & Son mortuary. S. F. Weidner, aged 20, the driver of the truck, was not held. He resides on R. D. 3, Meyersdale. Meyersdale Republican, January 4, 1940
