Born March 2, 1903, in Merrill, Md., the oldest daughter of James and Mary (Hummel) Merrill, and the second oldest of a family of nine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert, and son, Hubert Brown Jr., and three grandchildren. Survived by the following children: Audrainne, wife of Donald Horning, and Margaret, wife of Dalton Schrock, both of Meyersdale; John Brown of Salisbury, Richard Brown of West Salisbury, James Brown of Richmond, Va., and Marcia, wife of Carl Thomas of Meyersdale; Reyetta, wife of James Brant of Springs; also a number of grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also survived by a brother, Paul Merrill of Oakland, Md. Member of the Cherry Grove Church of the Brethren, the Salisbury VFW Auxiliary 8826, and Salisbury American Legion. Friends will be received at Leckemby Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. On Friday she will be taken to the Springs Mennonite Church and lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Pastor Steven J. Heatwole. Interment, Salisbury Cemetery.
