Brumbaugh, 88, 160 Aspen Lane, Westminster Woods Retirement Community, Huntingdon, died Jan. 18 at Altoona Hospital Born May 23, 1911 in Woodbury, Bedford County, son of Alvah S. and Nancy (Bennett) Brumbaugh. Preceded in death by parents; bother Daniel Bennett Brumbaugh and sister, Anna (Brumbaugh) Lashley. Survived by a brother, Leonard Bennett Brumbaugh, Shippensburg and several nieces and nephews. A 1929 graduate of Altoona High School; 1933 graduate of Juniata College; and received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Juniata College in 1975. Member of Stone Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon. Past president of Middle District Men's Work Council of the Church of the Brethren; former chairman Commission on the Ministry, Church of the Brethren; past president Rotary Club of Huntingdon; past director Huntingdon County United Fund; trustee Huntingdon County Library, member Huntingdon County Historical Society; board member of Pennsylvania State Council of Churches; past president Huntingdon County Tourist Promotion Agency; Pennsylvania Folklore Society; Juniata Board of Trustees, 1979-1994. In 1968-70 he served as president of the Middle Atlantic District American Alumni Council. During that time he is credited with establishing a consultation service for new council members. He was a Woodbury High School teacher from 1933-1935; principal of New Paris-Napier High School 1935-1936; assistant to Juniata College president Charles C. Ellis in 1936; alumni secretary from 1939-1962; named Juniata's director of development in 1962; named vice president for development and named curator of the Juniata College museum in 1963; organized the first alumni tour in 1966; named vice president for college relations in 1968; retired in 1976 as vice president of College Advancement Emeritus. From 1979-1987 he was the president of Weimer-Oller Travel Agency, Inc. and then was a consultant to Gateway Travel. From 1979-94 he was a Juniata College trustee *retiring from the board in 1994 he was named Trustee Emeritus. Visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington Street, Huntingdon. Service will be at the Stone Church of the Brethren, 17th and Moore streets, Huntingdon, at 2 p.m., Saturday. The Revs. Dale W. Dowdy and Christy L. Dowdy officiating. Interment, Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. A special Juniata College memorial service will be held during alumni weekend, May 20. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harold B. Brumbaugh Scholarship Fund at Juniata, College, 1700 Moore Street, Huntingdon, Pa., 16652.
