Col. 06/01/07 Daily American Retired Lt. Col. Dale G. Bruner, 76, Sumterville, Fla., passed away May 30, 2007. He is predeceased by his wife, Marie (Burnett) Bruner; and parents, Wade and Anne Bruner. He is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Karl W. and Anastacia Bruner, Yigo, Guam; Mark P. and Dawn Bruner, Fort Mill, S.C.; John P. and Lisa Bruner, Jakarta, Indonesia; three granddaughters, Amanda, Alexis and Madison Bruner. He moved to Crystal River, Fla., from Somerset in 1987, and then to Sumterville in 1988. He was in the U.S. Army for 20 years, where he was a veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Legion of Merit Medal and two Bronze Stars. After his 20 years of military service, he worked for Somerset County as an investigator for the Somerset County Public Defender's office. He then went to work for the state of Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services Child Support Division. He was a member of the Wildwood Church of Christ and served as president of the Board of Directors for Sumter County Habitat for Humanity. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Mid-Florida Area Agency on Aging. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Wildwood Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Chapel and a service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery with Honors following Tuesday's service. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to The Habitat for Humanity of Sumter County at 6727 CR 148, Wildwood, FL 34785 or donations mailed to Habitat for Humanity, P.O.
