  BUCHANAN
  
  Sylva F. Buchanan, 88, Ligonier, died Sept. 6, 1989, at Bethlen
  Nursing Home, Ligonier.  Born May 13, 1901, in Shade Township,
  daughter of the late Frank and Emma (Custer) Shaffer.  Preceded in
  death by husband, Orange L.; step-mother, the former Edna Penrod
  Weaver; brothers, Foster and Grant; sister, Mildred Boland;
  step-brothers and sisters, Elbert, Carmen Weaver and Lucille
  Callihan.  Survived by these children; F. Verdene and Dwight L.,
  married to the former Sally Ringham, both of Ligonier; and
  granddaughters, Carolyn, Cindy, and Christie.  Sister of Steward,
  Schellsburg, Guy, Hooversville, and step-sister of Mildred Rummel,
  Windber.  Also survived by sister-in-law, Goldie Shaffer,
  Hooversville.  Member of St. James Lutheran Church, Ligonier.  Family
  will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral
  Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.
