Rev. A. C. Curran, pastor, officiated and the church was filled with relatives and friends who came to pay their last respects. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery. Alice Buckel was the only daughter of Oliver C. and Ruth Shoup Buckel, well known residents of this section. Her father is proprietor of a general store at Bittinger. She was born in that community October 22, 1916, attended local schools and was graduated from the Accident High School. Although she suffered from a heart condition for several years, she became critically ill about four weeks ago. The family had tried various climates in the hope that her health could be improved, but apparently nothing could be done. News of her death, which occurred about 9 o'clock Friday morning, came as a distinct shock to their many friends in this community. She had been a member of the Bittinger Lutheran Church for several years. Surviving in addition to her bereaved parents, are six brothers, namely, Herbert B., Rexford C., Ralph L., Joseph R., Kenneth R., and Elbert E. Buckel, all of the Bittinger section.
