Born Sept. 21, 1922, in Crucible, Greene County. Son of Matthew and Julia (Palenchar) Buljat. Preceded in death by father; brother, Michael Buljat, and sister, Ann Burnett. Survived by wife, the former Betty Lucille Welsh, to whom he was married for 54 years; mother, Julie Buljat of Baltimore; children: Bonita "Bonnie" Caldaroni of Somerset, John R. Buljat Jr., married to the former Karen Kimmel of Somerset; Thomas R. Buljat of Somerset; Mrs. Lawrence H. (Ginger) Amber of Gibsonia; 9 grandchildren: Gina Caldaroni, Gwendalin McConnell, Natalie Hunt, John C. Buljat, Thomas R. Buljat Jr., Michael Buljat, Heather, Brian and Samantha Amber; 1 great-grandson: Tony Allen Sarver. Brother of: Paul Buljat of New Bern, N.C.; Nick Buljat of Joppatowne, Md.; Joseph Buljat of Upperco, Md., and Mrs. George (Catherine) Staruch, Mrs. Hugh (Helen) Meredith, Mrs. Joseph (Martha) Phillips and Mrs. Dolores Donovan, all of Baltimore, Md. Member of Grace United Methodist Church. Life Member of National Rifle Association and Laurel Ridge Sportsmen's Association. Owner of Somerset Sport Shop since 1952. U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Friends received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Grace United Methodist Church, Somerset, with the Rev. Charles F. Olson officiating. Viewing at the church from 1:30 p.m. until time of service.
