Born May 14, 1902, in McKeesport, a son of Oscar Elwood and Bertha Amelia (Ehrhardt) Bumbarger. Preceded in death by first wife, former Sara Catherine Keeler; four brothers and four sisters. Survived by wife, the former Edna Shockey; children: Robert, Boswell; Carl, Somerset RD 2; Walter, St. Petersburg, Fla.; John, Cleveland, Ohio; Richard, Acosta; Mrs. James (Nancy) Peterson, Canton, Ohio; Mrs. James (Mary) Emert, Somerset RD 2; 28 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Brother of: Mrs. Clyde (Marjorie) Simpson, North Huntingdon; Howard, of Elizabeth. He was a member of Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church. Former employee of National Tube, McKeesport. Retired carpenter and farmer. Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Funeral services Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Somerset Alliance Church, the Rev. William Wood and Dr. Melvin Vance. Interment, Casebeer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allegheny Lutheran Home, Johnstown. Body will lie in state in the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
