"Red" Burba, 89, of Jerome Hill Road, Thomas Mills, died Feb. 17, 2004, at Somerset Hospital. Born March 24, 1914, in Pittsburgh. He is the son of Joseph Sr. and Rose Marie (Jurgelewicz) Burba. He is preceded in death by parents, wife of 45 years the former Emma B. Krepelka on Aug. 5, 1997, and sisters, Clara Bohla, Jean Orris, Helen Timchak and Antoinette Homola. He is survived by brothers Joseph Jr., married to Agnes Marie Daniels, Sipesville, and Walter married to Florence O'Neil, Buffalo, N.Y., sister Nellie Zimmerman, Boardman, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also is survived by very close fried Julius Cortese of Hollsopple RD. He was a resident at Siemon's Lakeview Estates since Dec. 29, 2003. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served with Company B, 69th Armored Infantry Battalion. He was a member of the UMWA and Jerome Nest 556 Polish Falcons of America. He was a retired employee of the Tedjeske Coal Company, Thomas Mills. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hoffman Funeral Homes, Allegheny Street, Boswell, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. Entombment in Grandview Mausoleum in Johnstown. Memorials may be given to the Easter Seals of Somerset County, 571 East Main St., Somerset, Pa. 15501. Daily American, February 19, 2004
