  BURFORD
  
    William R. Burford, 92, formerly of 750 Maryland Ave., Cumberland,
  Md., died March 9, 1985 at the Cumberland Nursing Home.  Born May 31,
  1892 in Sheraden, Pa.  His wife was the late Cora (Mognet) Burford. 
  Survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  Among them is Joseph R.
  Dawson, East Gate Court, Cumberland.  He was a retired draftsman for
  the Allegheny Ballistics Company.  He was a member of the First
  Presbyterian Church, Cumberland, the Ali Ghan Shrine Temple; Scottish
  Rite Body; Fort Cumberland Lodge No. 21 AF&AM; American Legion Fort
  Cumberland Post No. 13; and the BPO Elks No. 63, Cumberland.  An Army
  veteran of World War I.  Friends will be received at the Scarpelli
  Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and
  7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral Wednesday 11 a.m. at the funeral home, the Rev.
  Dr. Howard Newman.  Interment, Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
