  BURGESS
  
    Elwood Burgess Sr., 90, of 600 Luzerne St., Johnstown, died Jan. 4,
  1989 at home.  Born Feb. 6, 1898 in Elmer, N.J., son of the late John
  and Lena Burgess.  He was preceded in death by wife, the former Dora
  Pauline Lamb.  Survived by the following children: Elwood Jr.,
  married to the former Janet Miller, Berlin; Elizabeth Ann, wife of
  Richard Gaier, Pittsburgh; June Goldy Burgess of Florida; 4
  grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.  Brother of Rebecca Barton,
  Woodstown, N.J.  He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and was
  president of the Eldora Land Corp.  He was former president of the
  Admiral Robert E. Perry Boy Scout Council.  Former general
  superintendent of the Wilmore Coal Co. and was formerly with the Land
  Management Division of Berwin-White Coal Co.  Former president of
  Citizens Telephone Co. of Davidsville.  Friends will be receivedFrom
  7-9 p.m. Friday at the Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc.,
  Johnstown, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, the Rev.
  Nelson F. Ilgenfritz.  Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum.
