("Spook") Burkett, 64, Somerset RD 1, died March 3, 1986 at the Somerset Community Hospital. Born June 15, 1921 in Somerset, son of the late Mary Alice Berkey, Somerset. Survived by his wife of 38 years, the former Neva Hayman; four children: Barry Peters, Somerset RD 6; Mrs. Lynn (Polly) Walker, Garrett; Mrs. Roger (Donna) Saylor, Rockwood RD 3; and Scott Burkett, at home. One surviving aunt, Mrs. Ethel Yoder, Somerset Towers; seven grandchildren. World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Somerset F.O.E., Somerset; and also the Garrett Sportsmen's Club. Retired employee of Saylor Motor Company of Somerset. Friends were received Tuesday and will be received Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, where services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. James Vandervort officiating. Interment, Rockwood I.O.O.F. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to the Laurel Highlands Heart Fund.
