Born Sept. 23, 1924 in Central City, the son of Franklin Sylvester and Leora Mae (Konntz) Burkett Sr. Preceded in death by parents, brothers, Merle, Melvin and Edward Burkett; sisters, Marie Shaffer, Katherine Burkett and Shirley Bishop. Survived by brothers and sisters, Dorothy Cline, Largo, Fla.; Kenneth Burkett, Somerset; Franklin Burkett Jr., St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Leora Peters, Virginia Beach, Va.; nephew, Edward Burkett, Somerset; and numerous other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Attended Somerset Alliance Church and he worked as a self-employed mechanic until his retirement in 1985. Friends received from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., the time of service Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. The Rev. James E. Vandervort officiating. Interment St. John's Cemetery.
