Burkett, 67, of South Park Avenue, Somerset, died April 29, 1977 in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Feb. 21, 1910 in Somerset, a son of Harry and Maggie (Burkett) Burkett. Preceded in death by parents; two brothers and one step-sister; and three step-brothers. Survived by his wife, Ruth (Pritts) Burkett; one son, Ward L. of Bedford; and a granddaughter, Eunice J. of Harrisburg; these step-sisters: Mrs. Daisy Fisher, Johnstown; Mrs. Iva Emert, Somerset; and Mrs. Twila Sevits, Berlin RD; these sisters: Mrs. Hazel Showman, Somerset; Mrs. Amanda Bowman, Meyersdale; Mrs. Evelyn Ash, Somerset RD 6; Mrs. Thelma Neveling, Garrett; Mabel Burkett, Somerset; and Mrs. Martha Cramer, Somerset RD 3. He was a retired B & O Railroad employee; member of Railroad of Brotherhood of Carmen and FOE, Somerset Lodge 1801. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Saturday (today) and Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where services will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Paul P.
