The little girls, Mary Ann Burkey, child of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Burkey, and Elizabeth Ann Leventry, child of Pvt. and Mrs. Earl Leventry, cousins and inseparable playmates, wandered away from the home of one of them Tuesday afternoon, probably going to see the high water of the nearby stream which was on the rampage. When their absence was discovered and relatives and friends began looking for the tots, the body of Mary Ann Burkey was soon discovered lodged against a large rock in the stream where it empties into the Davidsville Run, but the body of her cousin has not been discovered despite unceasing efforts of volunteer firemen and members of the Holsopple Disaster Relief organizations. Nets and grappling hooks were used, but the raging water may have carried the body on into the Stonycreek. The Burkey child's funeral will be conducted in the Holsopple United Brethren Church on Friday at 2 o'clock. Besides her parents she is survived by two brothers, Billy, 13, and Ronnie, 5, and by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Leventry and Mrs. Lavina Wild, all of Holsopple. The father of Elizabeth Leventry, who saw service on the Western front in Europe, was evacuated to the States last November for medical care, and is now stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. He is expected home in a few days, when services will be arranged for his missing little daughter. Besides her parents, she is survived by three brothers, Edward, 6; Lawrence, 4; and Leonard, 1, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Leventry and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jones of Holsopple.
