Burkhart, 80, of Scottdale RD 1, died Wednesday, Aug. 30 in the Oakland V.A. Hospital, Pittsburgh after a lingering illness. Born July 31, 1898 in Scottdale RD 1, son of the late Frank J. and Anna Detwiler Burkhart. Veteran of WWI and retired owner of Burkharts Body Shop in Scottdale. Member of the Jacobs Creek U.M. Church and former past Fayette County Commander of the VFW and member of Scottdale Barracks No. 419 WWI Veterans; Scottdale American Legion and Scottdale VFW Posts and the Eureka Grange. Surviving, his widow, Doris Schultz Burkhart; four sons, James F. of Barberton, Ohio; Karl E. of Dawson RD; William M. and Ronald L. both of Scottdale RD 1; four daughters: Mrs. William (Audrey) Herrington and Mrs. Marjorie Jones, both of Connellsville, RD 2; Mrs. Herman (Dorothy) Younkin of Somerset and Mrs. Ronald (Patricia) Bair of Mineral Ridge, Ohio; 32 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. He was the last survivor of his family. Friends will be received after 4 p.m. Friday and until noon Sunday at the Robert B. Ferguson Funeral Home, Scottdale. Services in the Jacobs Creek U.M. Church, Scottdale RD 1 on Sunday at 2 p.m. Interment, Mt. Olive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society or Jacobs Creek U.M. Church Building fund.
