Burkholder, 48, of Garrett RD 1, died Feb. 20, 1982, at his home. He was born June 13, 1933, in Smokeless, Cambria County, a son of Franklin J. and Kathryn (Burke) Burkholder. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and his wife, the former JoAnn Hoover, who died Jan. 29, 1982. He is survived by two sons; Rick and Randy, both at home; a sister, Mrs. Wilma B. Werner of Garrett; and an uncle, Charley Burke, of Boswell. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of the Charles E. Kelly Post 112, American Legion and the John C. Tressler Post 3504, VFW, both of Meyersdale; the Garrett Volunteer Fire Department; Somerset County Firemen's Association; the Laurel Falls Association of Summit Mills; and a shareholder of the Brooklyn Hunting Camp. He was a machine operator for the Penn Pocahontas Coal Company, and a member of the UMWA Local 1875. Friends were received at the Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home, Berlin, where services were held with the Rev. Jack M. Hazlett officiating. Interment, Highland Cemetery, Garrett.
