Burns, 86, Somerset, died Jan. 26, 2006, at The Patriot. Born June 6, 1919, in Westmoreland County, she is the daughter of the late Clifford and Margaret (Regensberger) Stotler. She was the first of two children and had a brother Norman who preceded her in death. She was married to William F. Arch and later to Walter H. ÒBudÓ Burns, and after living in California and Virginia, she retired at Indian Lake in Somerset County. She is survived by her son, Alan W. Arch and wife, Patra of Sammamish, Wash.; grand-children, Amanda and Jason Arch; and sister-in-law, Hilda Stotler. She grew up in Yukon and then went on to Indiana State Teachers College, where she started her career by teaching home economics. She authored four best-selling educational books on home sewing, highlighting the ÒBishop Method of Clothing Construction.Ó She was vice president of Education for Simplicity Pattern Co. in New York for two years and lectured nationally on home sewing for two decades. She loved her work and had a wide circle of friends who she loved socializing with. She was a wonderfully kind and thoughtful person who loved life and always supported her family and friends. She will be missed greatly by many. Private interment will be in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 168 W. Union St. Somerset, PA 15501.
