Burnworth, 81, of Farmington, passed away on Feb. 23, 2001 in Uniontown Hospital. Born Feb. 7, 1920 in Confluence, son of the late Charles Orville and Nellie (Butler) Burnworth. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by these brothers and sisters, Rev. George Burnworth, Ben Burnworth, Nell Hansler, Nina Parker, Evelyn Ferrell, a twin brother Paul Burnworth and granddaughters Christa Faye and Cheryl Lynn Burnworth. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Eleanor Alden Burnworth; children, Carol A. Bartlett Carder of Orlando; Douglas Burnworth and wife Pauline of Confluence; Denise Simon and her husband Christopher of Farmington; these grandchildren, Jill Marie Burnworth of Manchester, Conn.; Teresa Faye Burnworth of Leominster, Mass.; Charles Douglas Burnworth of Confluence; Anne Renee Bartlett Deitsch of Parkersburg, W.Va.; Dana Charles Bartlett of Marietta, Ohio; Kristen Sara Simon of Farmington; great-grandchildren, Corey, Kaitlyn, Brandon Deitsch, Zachary and Samuel Bartlett; sisters, Frances Silbaugh of Confluence and Wilma Ream of Pleasant Gap. Member of the Farmington Bethel Church of the Brethren. He was owner-operator of Burnworth Coal Co. He retired from Rockwell International in Uniontown after 26 years. He gave hayrides for area church groups and young persons. Carl was active in the Ft. Necessity Lions Club as a Melvin Jones Fellow for Humanitarians Services. He was a forest fire warden, member of Fayette County zoning board and the Fayette County Blind Association where he served on the board. Member of the Mt. Fellowship Center and served as the Farmington Justice of the Peace. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Donald R. Crawford Funeral Home, Farmington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Pastor A. Harrison Smith and Pastor Larry Walker will officiate. Interment will follow in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc. and the Fayette County Blind Assoc. Daily American, February 26, 2001 [B3253]
