All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ EMMA BURNWORTH Mrs. Emma Burnworth, 90, widow of Alvin Burnworth, died suddenly at 2:40 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Burnworth, Connellsville, following a stroke of paralysis at 1 o'clock. A daughter of the late Jeremiah and Louise Critchfield Bowlin, Mrs. Burnworth was born May 31, 1853, near Somerfield and spent most of her life in that community where she was widely known. She was married January 27, 1874, to Alvin Burnworth and since his death February 9, 1926, she had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Eva Watson of South Connellsville, going Monday to the home of her son in Connellsville for a visit. She was the mother of four children, three of whom survive. They are: J. P. Burnworth, Connellsville, Mrs. Eva Watson, South Connellsville, and Mrs. Bessie Hostetler, wife of J. L. Hostetler, Baltimore. Also surviving are four grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Sally Shirer living near Cresson. Mrs. Burnworth united with the Methodist Church in her girlhood. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Watson, South Connellsville, and at 3:30 o'clock a short service and prayer will be held at Johnson Chapel Church near Confluence. Rev. Howard W. Jamison, pastor of the Central Methodist Church of Connellsville will officiate. Burial will be in the Johnson Chapel cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, September 23, 1943
