Carl Buterbaugh, 78, Somerset, died Dec. 6, 1986, at the Somerset Community Hospital. Born July 9, 1908, in Starford, Indiana County, son of the late John Henry and Mary Ann (Kimmel) Buterbaugh. Also preceded in death by a daughter, Grace E.; son, Dr. Joseph A.; sister, Mrs. Alta Folkemer; and brother, Chalmer. Survived by his wife, the former Dorothea Lavinia Hutchinson; and these children: Dr. John C., Waynesburg; Wesley J., Mars, Pa.; and Mrs. David T. (Helen) Griffith, Lancaster; eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter. Brother of: Mrs. William (Margaret) Ament, Johnstown; E. Ernest, Piney Point, Fla.; and Emory G., of Everett. A 1934 graduate of Mount Union College. A retired minister of the United Methodist Church, he was ordained in 1939. He had served churches in Meyersdale, Armagh, E. McKeesport, Fredericktown, Cannonsburg, Connellsville and Oil City. He was the district superintendent of the Washington District from 1967-73, and had served the Casselman Charge from 1973 until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Service will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Neal K. Rogers and the Rev. Harry C. Sherry officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. The body will lie in state from 12:30 p.m. until time of service. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Somerset Community Hospital. Daily American, December 8, 1986 [B3295]
