Butler, 73, Grantsville RD 1, Md., died Friday, Dec. 30, 1988 at his residence. Born July 7, 1915 in Grantsville, Md., he was the son of the late Edward G. and Mary (Wilt) Butler. He was a retired brick tender for John Hershberger Masonry and a member of Mountain Top Wagon Train Association. Surviving are his widow, Virginia (Thorpe) Butler; one daughter, Clara Belle Ray, Orrville, Ohio; two stepdaughters: Sandra K. Lapp, Cumberland, Md.; and Margaret Foy, Grantsville, Md.; five stepsons: George Lapp, Larry Lapp and Robert Lapp, all of Grantsville, Md.; John Lapp, Finzel; and Kedrick Lapp, Springs; three sisters: Violet Biswick, Acosta; Alverta Hileman, Accident, Md.; and Gladys Hutzel, Grantsville, Md.; one grandchild; 20 step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where services were conducted Monday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Earl Yoder. Interment, Frostburg Memorial Park.
