Butler, 71, of Grantsville RD 1, Md., died December 30 at his home. A native of Garrett County, Md., he was a son of the late Melvin A. Butler and Arminta C. (Durst) Butler. He was a member of Amity United Church of Christ, Meyersdale and a retired B&O Railroad brakeman with 27 years of service. Surviving are his widow, Maggie Butler, three sons: Lloyd Butler Jr., Salisbury; Earl Butler, Boynton; and Edwin Butler, Garrett; five daughters: Mrs. Josephine Bittinger, Salisbury RD 1; Mrs. Martha Deal, Salisbury; Mrs. Melda Caton, Meyersdale RD 4; Mrs. Mary Fundis, Rockwood and Mrs. Esther Rugg, Confluence; a step-daughter, Mrs. Kathleen McKenney, Pompano Beach, Fla.; a stepson, Kenneth Bowman, Cumberland, Md.; 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; six brothers, Robert Butler, Frostburg RD 2, Md.; Harold Butler, Grantsville, Md.; Arthur Butler, Laurel, Md.; Roy Butler, Meyersdale; Claude Butler, Shawnee, Ola.; and Fay Butler, Baltimore, MD.; and four sisters: Mrs. Beulah Merrbach; Mrs. Fern Fitzpatrick, both of Grantsville; Mrs. Florence Tharp, Frostburg RD 2, Md.; and Mrs. Joan Resh, Salisbury RD 1. Friends were at the Thomas Funeral Home where services were conducted with the Rev. Lloyd E. Sechriest officiating. Interment in Salisbury Cemetery. The Republic, January 7, 1982 [B3322]
