Butler, 54, of RD 1, Grantsville, Md., died unexpectedly June 30, 1983 at his residence. Born in Grantsville, he was a son of the late John A. Butler and Savilla (Bittinger) Butler. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren and was a lift truck operator for Harbison-Walker Refractories, Grantsville. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nellie (Hutzel) Butler; a son, Ricky Butler, at home; three daughters: Mrs. Deborah O'Donnell, Mrs. Robin Durst and Mrs. Brenda Emerick of Grantsville; two brothers, J. Woodrow Butler and Alton Butler, both of Grantsville, seven sisters: Mrs. Beulah Tressler, Springs; Mrs. Emma Mathias, Meyersdale; Mrs. Viola Hutzel, Somerset; Mrs. Melda Butler, Grantsville; Mrs. Pearl Stringer, Mrs. Evelyn Hudacheck, both of Brownsville; and Mrs. Elma Durst, Meyersdale; two grandchildren. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where services were conducted in the funeral home with the Rev. David Rockwood officiating. Interment was in Grantsville Cemetery.
