Butler, 87, of Meyersdale (Brothersvalley Township), died Oct. 29, 2002 at Meyersdale Medical Center. Born April 4, 1915 in Brothersvalley Township. A son of the late William and Lucinda (Ringer) Butler. Also preceded in death by a brother Roy, and two sisters, Etta Ferner and Violet Saylor. Survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Ruth E. Shultz, and two daughters, Alma Jean wife of William Bridegum, and Joyce E. Butler, both of Silver Spring, Md. Two grandchildren, Douglas Bridegum and Brian Bridegum and his wife Michelle, all of Silver Spring, Md. Three great-grandchildren: Sarah, Billy, and Lindsay. Also survived by a special friend and caregiver Julie Walker and his loyal companion Sam the family dog. A brother of Mabel Pyle, Rockwood. A former member of the Meyersdale Lions Club and St. Paul (Fritz) Cemetery Association. Retired as manager of the Meyersdale Farm Bureau with 20 years of service, and later retired from the Pennsylvania Turnpike in 1983. Paul and his wife Ruth joined the Zion Lutheran Church in Meyersdale after the St. Paul (Fritz) Lutheran Church closed in 1966. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Price Funeral Home Meyersdale, where service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. George Mason and the Rev. Glenn Foster officiating. Interment St. Paul (Fritz) Cemetery Brothersvalley Township. Daily American, October 31, 2002 [B3335]
