Born Jan. 18, 1954, in Clarksburg, W.Va., the son of Susanna (Rose) Byard of Bridgeport, W.Va., and the late Charles Keith Byard. Preceded in death by his father and brother, John Randall Byard. Survived by his wife and best friend, Robin Anne (Plotner) Byard; mother; brother, Charles Keith Byard II of Bridgeport, W.Va.; and sisters, Karen Horton of Orlando, Fla., and Sara Lois of Bluffton, S.C. He was dearly loved by his niece, Amy Mehr of Buckhannon, W.Va., and also survived by nephews Jeffrey and Brian Plotner, and Adam and Travis Laughlin; and great-nephews Tyler, Ethan and Patrick Mehr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post 941 in Donegal. He loved the mountains and his happiest times were spent outdoors hunting, fishing and playing golf with his family and friends. He loved his dogs Summit and Garth, and the late, great, Harley and Duke. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. John D. Byard officiating. Interment at Greene County Memorial Park Cemetery in Waynesburg. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
