Born June 25, 1921, in Sand Patch, son of the late Harry and Carolina Elizabeth (Habel) Byers. Survived by widow, Estella (Staub), and 3 sons: Michael, Baltimore, and William and Thomas, both of Monroeville. Also survived by these brothers and sisters: Una Lichty and Doris Clapper, both of Meyersdale; Louise Phillippi and Ferne Kinter, both of Rockwood; and Blaine and John, both of Las Cruces, N.M. Professional engineer with a BS degree in engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Worked for Swindell and Dressler and Koppers of Pittsburgh and the Mannesmann Demag Corp., Pittsburgh. Member of Amity United Church of Christ and Charles E. Kelly American Legion Post 112, and the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge, Meyersdale. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Leckemby Funeral Home, where service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment, Reform Cemetery. Daily American, October 30, 1995 [B3354]
