  LAURA BYRD
  
    Laura Catherine Byrd, 85, of Somerset RD 1, died July 4, 1978 at
  her residence.  She was born September 7, 1892 in Elk Lick Township,
  Somerset County, a daughter of Francis and Matilda (Hetrick) Shunk.
    She was preceded in death by husband, William L. and a daughter,
  Virginia; also seven brothers and two sisters.
    She is survived by the following children: Carl and Mrs. Everett
  (Betty) Weaver, both of Somerset RD 1; Mrs. Merle (Lucille) Ream of
  Hershey; Raymond of Lockport, N.Y.; Elroy of Somerset; also 16
  grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was a sister of Mrs.
  Florence Hostetler of Meyersdale; Mrs. Gladys Meyers of Salisbury and
  Jack Shunk of Allentown.
    She was a member of the Geiger Church of the Brethren.
    Friends were received at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home.
