  WILLIAM L. BYRD
  
    William Lee Byrd, 84, of Somerset RD 1, died July 31, 1973 in
  Somerset Community Hospital.  Born Sept. 8, 1888 in Somerset County,
  he was a son of the late William and Elizabeth (Smith) Byrd.  He was
  preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
    Surviving are his widow, the former Laura Shunk; these children:
  Carl and Lucille, wife of Merle Ream, both of Hershey; Raymond of
  Lockport, N.Y.; Betty, wife of Everett Weaver, Somerset RD 1; and
  Elroy, Somerset; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; also a
  brother, Lloyd Byrd, Berlin; and a sister, Mrs. Olive Ringler,
  Rockwood.
    He was a member of Geiger Church of the Brethren.
    Funeral Service was held last Thursday afternoon in Richard E.
  Hauger Funeral Home, Somerset, with Rev. Gerald Deffenbaugh
  officiating.  Interment in Somerset County Memorial Park.
