Cable and the late Annie (Mason) Cable died very suddenly of coronary occlusion at his home in Akron, Ohio, Thursday, May 1st. He was born near Hooversville, Somerset County, Aug. 14, 1887. Later with his parents and brother, he moved to the farm of his grandfather Joseph Mason near Berlin, and still later to Berlin. He attended the township schools and was a graduate of Berlin High School. After finishing school he worked as a clerk in the stores of Berlin and from 1908 to 1912 he conducted a feed and grocery store on Main Street. After closing his business in Berlin he spent a number of years as a traveling salesman, finally locating in Akron, Ohio, where he became sales manager for the Columbia Silica Company of Akron, which company was later taken over by the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company of Saint Paul, Minnesota. He served as sales manager of this company for 12 years, until the time of his death. He was a director in the National Sand and Gravel Association. He married Irene M. Floto of Berlin and to them one son James T. Cable now of Washington, D.C., was born. On June 16, 1936, he married Miss Ruth C. Kilburn of Akron, Ohio. He is survived by his second wife, his father, his son, and a brother, Everett H. Cable, of Hollidaysburg, Pa. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held in Billow Chapel, Akron, O., with Dr. Fred C. Wiegman officiating, at 1:00 p.m. Saturday. His body was shipped by rail to Meyersdale and brought thence by hearse to Berlin where further services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m., at Johnson & Son Funeral Home, in charge of Rev. Robert S. Nagle. Interment in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Berlin. Relatives and friends from Akron, attending the obsequies, besides his widow were Mrs. Elmira Loftus, Mr. Johnson (Plant manager), Mr. and Mrs. Harry Powell, also Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cable of Kent, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Cable of Hollidaysburg, Pa.
