Born April 7, 1911 in Spraggs. Son of Thomas and Mary Jane (Stewart) Calvert. Resident of Spraggs area all his life. Member of Blacksville Baptist Church, Blacksville, W.Va. Former deacon and trustee of the church. Member of East Franklin Grange 1709, Pomona and state Granges, Greene County Farmers Association. Had been an Agricultural 4-H Club leader for 10 years. Served as Wayne Township auditor for several years and for 16 years was Wayne Township supervisor. He enjoyed farming. Survived by wife, Florence Zimmerman Calvert. whom he married on Sept. 9, 1939; sons, Thomas W. Calvert of Berlin and Robert E. Calvert of Mercer; 4 grandsons: Jeff, Steven, Scott and David Calvert; granddaughter, Christine Calvert. Preceded in death by two brothers: Clarence E. Calvert Sr. and Richard E. Calvert; three sisters: Sadie Jobes, Elizabeth Yeager and Ella Calvert. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc. 197 W. Maiden St., Waynesburg, Pa., where funeral service will he held at 11 am. Tuesday, Rev. Andrew Hobbs officiating. Burial, Blacksville Cemetery, Blacksville, W. Va.
