Campbell, 82, died at his home in North Canton, O., Thursday, Feb. 5, after a short illness. He was the son of Thomas and Mary Littlejohn Thomas and was born in Hamilton, Scotland, Feb. 20, 1866. His wife preceded him in death in 1927. Mr. Campbell was a resident of Berlin and vicinity from 1911 until 1928, while he was foreman of Brothersvalley Coal Co., The Consolidation Coal Co., and the Pinehill Fuel Co. In 1928, he retired and moved to Canton, O. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and of the Masonic Order. He is survived by two sons - James Campbell of Canton, O., with whom he made his home, and Thomas Campbell of Waco, Tex.; also by a brother, William Campbell, of Meyersdale, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson, living in Scotland with her husband, John C. Thompson. His body was brought by train from Canton, O., last Saturday evening, to Johnson & Son's funeral home in Berlin where funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m., with Rev. D. S. Stephan, D.D., officiating. Interment was in the Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, February 12, 1948
