Cannon, Sand Patch, died at the Hazel McGilvery Hospital at 9:30 Tuesday evening, Jan. 11, after a lingering illness. His age was 71 years, 10 months, 17 days, having been born March 24, 1872, at Brownsville, the son of James and Ada (Secrest) Cannon. He was employed as a Baltimore and Ohio Railroad car inspector, prior to his retirement a number of years ago. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Cannon, and six children: Mrs. Ada Bane, California, Pa., Mrs. Mary Schneider, Johnstown; Mrs. Barbara Mennett, University Hospital, Ann Arbor, Mich.; James Cannon, at home; Ralph, serving with the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific, and Byron, at home; also by two grandchildren. Six children preceded him in death. Also surviving are three sisters: Mrs. A. B. White, Wheeling, W.Va.; Mrs. Ellen James, Wilmerding, and Mrs. John Grant, California. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the White Oak Reformed Church, with Rev. J. E. Gindlesperger officiating. Interment will be made in the White Oak Cemetery. W. C. Price and son have charge of the funeral arrangements. Mrs. Cannon was a member of the Masonic Order, blue lodge of Meyersdale. Meyersdale Republican, January 13, 1944
