Woodrow was one of Meyersdale High School's athletic stars, having been an outstanding player on the local football squad. He was a member of the Sophomore class and a conscientious student, popular with both the teachers and the student body. Last Tuesday when the football boys were awarded their varsity letters Coach Steumpfle and Captain Billy Price took his letter to the hospital and presented it to him. He was very much delighted and proud to receive this emblem, which is much sought after by the students, either in athletics or scholastic standing. Woodrow Cannon was born October 29th, 1913, and died at the age of 18 years, 2 months and 22 days. Last year he was confirmed in the White Oak Reformed Church, where funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the pastor, Rev. J. E. Gindlesperger. Interment will be made in the White Oak Cemetery, with Undertaker W. C. Price in charge of the funeral arrangements. Coach Steumpfle and six of his football boys, Chester Herwig, Robert Lepley, John Adamson, Clarence Seibert, William Smith and William Price, will act as pallbearers. He is survived by his parents, three sisters, Mrs. Earl Bane of Denbo, Pa., Mary V. and Barbara E., at home, and five brothers, William H., James A., Claude R., Ralph G., and Barron E., all at home.
