Born March 9, 1916, in Listie, son of William H. and Nellie O. (Long) Carmany. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Mary Dooley; brothers: Harold, Clarence, James, and Henry. Survived by daughters: MaryAnn, wife of Pat Zubek, Central City RD; Susan, wife of James Poorbaugh of South Carolina; beloved granddaughters: Becky and Danielle Zubek. Brother of Florence Walker of Friedens RD. Former owner of Carmany and Polsac Lumber. Served with Merchant Marines during WW II. Treasurer of the Shade Central City Park Board. Past president of Graef Lutheran Church Council. Charter member and former VP of Shade Central City Historical Society. Former member of the Central City Businessmen's Association, and the Shade Central City Joint Authority. Past recipient of the chamber sponsored "Man of the Year Award." Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Monday at Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City, and from 10 a.m. until time of service 11 a.m. Tuesday at Graef Lutheran Church, Cairnbrook, Rev. Raymond Sistek officiating. Interment, Shade Cemetery. In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to the Shade Central City Park or Historical Society in Ray's memory.
