    Florence Elizabeth Carpenter, 99, Rockwood, passed on June 30, 2008, at The Patriot,
  Somerset. Born  March 23, 1909, in Markleton, a daughter of the late  Norman and Mattie
  (Sechler) Sanner. She is also  preceded in death by her husband, Ray E. Carpenter,  who
  passed on August 23,1978; daughter, Kathryn (Carpenter) Pyle Tedrow; grandson,  Benjamin
  Carpenter; great-grandsons, Eric and  Kevin Withum; brothers, Roy, Freeman and Arthur 
  Sanner; and sister, Jean Holmgren. Survived by her daughters, Marion Hinzy and husband,
  Homer,  Somerset; and Carol Withum and husband, Richard,  Verona; sons, Ronald Carpenter
  and wife, Doris  (Tedrow), Purcellville, Va.; Ray Carpenter and wife,  Sharon
  (Phillippi), Rockwood; Roy Carpenter and wife, Susan (Jawish), Jefferson, Md.; and 
  Kenneth Carpenter and wife, Linda (Staymates),  Waynesboro; sisters, Erma Younkin and
  Sara Gross, both of Berlin; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and five
  great-great- grandchildren. She was a member of the Christ  United Methodist Church in
  Rockwood, where she belonged to the Christian Women's  Fellowship, and was a member of
  the Rockwood Senior Citizen's Club. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday
  at Miller Funeral  Home, Rockwood, where a service will be held  at 11 a.m. Thursday. The
  Rev. Mark Ongley officiating. Interment at Rockwood IOOF  Cemetery.
