Carter, 85, of Garrett, died Oct. 19, 1975, in Frostburg Community Hospital. Born Jan. 21, 1890, in Garrett, she was a daughter of the late Austin and Lydia (Burkholder) Christner and was the widow of George Carter. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, where she had been Sunday School teacher and choir director, and was a charter member of Garrett American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Garrett Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving are two sons, William and George Carter, of Beaver Falls; two daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Zeller, Frostburg; and Mrs. Ruth Hall of Horsham, Pa.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon in Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church with Rev. J. David Menchhofer officiating. Interment in Highland Cemetery, Garrett under the direction of Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale. Meyersdale Republican, October 23, 1975 [C0159]
