Carver, 79, of New Baltimore, died March 1 at his home. He was born January 25, 1893, in Stonycreek Township, the son of Ira G. and Sidney Walker Carver. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mae R. Harbrant, in 1966: a son, Walter, in 1958; two sisters and a brother. He is survived by three grandchildren: Mrs. Elinore Layton, Mrs. Grace Trovato, both of Johnstown, and Thomas Carver, Warren, Ohio. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren and these sisters: Mrs. Ivy Glessner, Berlin RD 1; Mrs. Vesta Kimmel, Berlin; Mrs. Ruth Pyle, Maugansville, Md., and Mrs. Alma Friedline, Friedens. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Berlin. Mr. Carver served as a justice of the peace in New Baltimore until his death. He retired on January 1 from the Somerset County assessment office. He was affiliated with these organizations: Berlin IOOF; Central Pennsylvania Police Association, which he served as secretary; New Baltimore Sportsman's Club and Roxbury Mountain, Field and Stream Club. Services were conducted March 4 in the Mickle Funeral Home in Schellsburg, the Rev. Ardell Miller and the Rev. Father Robert C. Flaherty officiating. Interment in Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown.
