Born July 3, 1901, in Shade Township, son of George and Barbara (Bisbing) Cassady. Preceded in death by his parents. Was the last surviving member of 15 children. Survived by his widow, the former Sadie Zimmerman, married June 11, 1924; and these children: Mrs. Clarance (Alice) Witt of Phoenix, Ariz.; William, married to Arlene Leese, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Robert, married to the former Delores Berkey of Hooversville RD 1; and Floyd, married to the former JoAnn Hoover of Stoystown. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A retired school teacher, he taught in Shade and Paint townships for 47 years. He attended the Otterbein United Methodist Church, and was a life resident of Somerset County. Member of the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association, the National Retired Teachers Association and the Hooversville Senior Citizens. Friends were received Sunday evening, and will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Deaner Funeral Home in Stoystown. Remains will lie in state at the Otterbein United Methodist Church from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday when services will be performed by the Rev. J. Wesley Spahn. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
