Cassler, 95, departed this life March 29, 2003, at HRC-Manor Care, Market St. Camp Hill, Pa. She has been a resident of Letchworth Dr. Camp Hill for the last 14 years and formerly lived at 402 W. Patriot St., Somerset, for 63 years. Born Oct. 15, 1907, the fourth of nine children to Scottish parents, John and Elizabeth (Armstrong) Currie. She is the last survivor of her immediate family. Mimi, as she was affectionately known to those close to her, married Austin (Mose) Cassler on June 28, 1927. Together they operated Cassler's Meat Market on W. Main St., Somerset. Mr. Cassler passed away on Dec. 27, 1969, also preceding her in death was her son-in-law, Donald C. Bittner and daughter-in-law, Arlene G. Cassler. Survived by her son, Donald E. Cassler, Pittsburgh and daughter, B. Joyce Bittner, with whom she lived, five grandchildren, William Cassler, Cambridge, Ohio; Ann Cassler Ribiero, Rockaway, N.J.; Jeffrey Bittner, Tampa, Fla.; Douglas Bittner, Mechaniscburg; Sandra Bittner Essig, Dillsburg; five great-grandchildren, D.J. Cassler, Joshua Ribiero, Austin, and Eric Bittner, Desiree Payne, one great-great-grandson, Kristofer Payne and numerous nieces and nephews. Mimi's vocation in life was the well-being of her family. They will sorely miss her nurturing manner, dimpled smile, twinkling blue eyes, her very quick wit and tremendous sense of humor. There will be no viewing and services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association 12001 N. Front St., Harrisburg Pa. 17102 or her church, St Paul's United Church of Christ W. Union St., Somerset, Pa 15501. Arrangements are being handled by Cremation Society of Pa. and Halverson Funeral Home, Somerset. Burial will be in Husband Cemetery Somerset. Daily American, 2, 2003 [C0219]
