Chalfant, 53, of Struthers, Ohio, formerly of Bedford and Somerset, passed April 2, 2001 in Richmond, Ind. Born July 26, 1947 in Bedford. Son of the late John and Bertha (Mitchell) Chalfant. Also preceded in death by sister Susie Chalfant. Survived by wife Patricia (Cane) Chalfant of Struthers, son Gary Chalfant and daughter Bobbie Blackburn, both of Louisiana, daughter Tanya and son Joseph, both of Struthers. Also survived by seven grandchildren. Brother of Ray of Cacola Beach, Fla.; John of Lowville, Ohio; Robert of Youngstown, Ohio; Bill of Baltimore, Md. and Jerry of Lowville; and sister Anna Lawler of Andover, Ohio. Veteran of the U.S. Army in the Vietnam era. He was a truck driver for Southwind Trucking of Youngstown, Ohio and a member of the Teamster's Union, local 261 in New Castle. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Rev. Tom Singo officiating.
