Chambers, 85, of Martinsburg, W. Va., formerly of Meyersdale, died July 22, 1974, at the VA Center in Martinsburg, where he was residing. Born May 17, 1889, in Clarksville, Md., he was a son of the late William and Catherine (Daley) Chambers. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Harriette Staub. in 1947, and by several brothers and sisters. He was a retired B&O detective and was a member of the Catholic Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Worth Cropp, of Concord, Calif., and two grandchildren. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at noon Friday in the VA Chapel at Martinsburg with Monsignor Clark officiating. Interment later in a Meyersdale cemetery.
