Born June 29, 1917, in Pleasant Hill, Pa., son of the late Curtin and Ellen (Tedrow) Chaney. Also preceded in death by four brothers - John, Howard, Richard and Glen; three sisters - Leora Miller, Uela Chaney and Alezenia Chaney. Mr. Chaney was a retired employee of the A & P Tea Co., Frostburg, after 33 years of service. A member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, the Holy Name Society and Farrady Post 24, American Legion. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Air Force in World War II. Surviving are his wife, Helen Warne Chaney; two sisters, Dorothy Pritts of Garrett and Sarah Saylor of Berlin; one brother, James Chaney of Garrett, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church by Msgr. John L. Reinsfelder. Interment, Sunset Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by Farrady Post, American Legion. Christian wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Daily American, April 6, 1993 [C0283]
